Peterhead Habour Traffic

Key Findings

Information is available from Peterhead Port Authority for 2019 - 2023 on tonnage and value of fish. Fig. 1 details the annual gross tonnage of shipping using the port whilst Fig. 2 details the annual value of fish handled through Peterhead Port. The sector environment has been influenced by a number of factors including oil price, political uncertainty, net-zero obligations, Brexit, and COVID-19 pandemic.

Fig. 3 detail vessel numbers and length between 2011-2023, taken from the Scottish Sea Fisheries Statistics (Scottish Government, n.d.). Over time the number of vessels into Peterhead has remained relatively stable, with slight declines seen in recent years. A more diverse range in vessel lengths has been recorded in recent years vs 2011-16.
